Chidimma Ozor Commer, PhD, LMSW - Clinical Practice, MSW, MA, E-RYT® 200, RYT® 500, YACEP®, founder of Chidimma Ozor Consulting, is a social justice advocate, a mental health professional, small business owner, educator, and the host of conscious + aligned with Chidimma, a social justice podcast focused on social justice, anti-racism, anti-oppression, and highlighting the stories of BIPOC disruptive storytellers. As the host of her first social justice and lifestyle podcast, theTYPEAhippie Podcast | ChiCast, Dr Ozor Commer focused on social justice, lifestyle, as well as eliminating the stigma around living in recovery from substance use or alcohol use disorder, surviving intimate partner violence and/or sexual assault, and living with mental illness. Dr Ozor Commer has worked as a social science researcher for several years and also has a background in healthcare.

Dr Ozor Commer works with police departments, churches, businesses, companies, nonprofits, institutions, schools, and other entities helping them start and have difficult conversations. This is possible through anti-racist, anti-oppressive, diversity, equity, inclusion, justice, and belonging training.

Dr Ozor Commer earned her PhD at University of Massachusetts, Boston in the School of Global Inclusion and Social Development and her Master of Social Work degree at the University of Michigan School of Social Work. She also has a Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Studies and a Master’s degree in Liberal Studies, both from the University of Michigan.

When she is not consulting, her research focus is on self-care practices of social workers who self-identify as advocates and/or activists; investigating white saviorism in various contexts such as social responsibility organizations (SROs), conscious consumerism, and transracial adoption; and the relationships between Black and white women.

During her “off” time when she is not thinking about how to better serve humanity, she enjoys riding her Peloton, run + walking, strength training, HIIT training, practicing yoga and mediation, reading, writing, traveling, and spending time with loved ones.

Police Departments

Police departments that want to start the healing process with the communities they have vowed to protect and serve may do so with the start of an inclusive conversation.

Churches and other places of worship

Churches and other places of worship have oftentimes been complicit with various abuse and have been sources of pain rather than peace. There is an opportunity to turn that around and start healing as a community with inclusive conversation.
